Biography
Brian Buhr is dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) and director of the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station. He joined the University’s faculty in 1992 as professor of applied economics and in 2008 the head of the department. Dr. Buhr has spoken at over 100 national and international conferences and symposia in the past five years, has published extensively in professional journal articles, extension manuscripts, book chapters and trade manuscripts. His teaching focus was commodity marketing and risk management with futures and options. Dr. Buhr has received the Outstanding Policy Contribution Award from the American Agricultural Economics Association, the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences’ Distinguished Teaching Award and he held the E. Fred Koller Chair. His research areas include policy and price analysis, risk management and the economics of information systems and traceability.
