The Harmonized World Soil Database (HWSD), jointly developed by FAO, IISAS, ISSCAS, and JRC, is a mapping unit-based soil property database. HWSD ver 1.0 characterizes more than 7,000 soil mapping units in sub-Saharan Africa comprising 132 soil types in total.
For any selected location (mapping unit), the Droppr returns:
- Admin area names (Levels 1-4)
- Number, name, and area share of soil types within location
- Top soil and sub-soil attributes for each soil
