Safe Software
Through a generous software license donation, HarvestChoice is using the flexible and powerful spatial ETL toolset to support web-based data query and retrieval of HarvestChoice spatially-explicit data. This includes the ability to translate, transform and integrate spatial data in any format or application quickly and easily.
Principal Supporters
While the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are the principal supporters of the broad mission of HarvestChoice, several other institutions and programs also provide support. Such support can be related to the development of data, methods and tools, to the performance of specific strategic studies, or to developing stakeholder capacity to use these products.
USAID’s Feed the Future initiative has committed to invest in Sustainable Intensification strategies for smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The initial prioritization and targeting of the focal areas and systems for the program was undertaken using HarvestChoice data and analysis. HarvestChoice is now leading the M&E activities of the program across all sites, helping to assess progress in achieving long-term improvements in cereal-legume-livestock systems productivity.
CSIRO’s Sustainable Agriculture Flagship has committed significant resources and personnel and is a strategic research partner. Research is initially focused on the African and global (and African focused) occurrences and consequences of key agricultural pest and diseases.
ILRI is a key partner with HarvestChoice focused on livestock intervention strategies globally (specifically with sub-Saharan Africa). ILRI and HarvestChoice have joint work in the areas of livestock feed, production geographies, productivity, pest and disease and market development matters.
