There are three broad aims of the 2009 meeting: the hallmark showcase of geospatial research activities of the CGIAR centres and selected partners, an introduction to the AGCommons program and discussion of the potential core thrusts of AGCommons Phase II (2010-2012), and a dialogue amongst all participants on the vision for accelerated and enhanced role of geospatial data and technologies in alleviating poverty and hunger and accelerating development across sub-Saharan Africa.
A novel feature of this CSI meeting will be Africa’s first “Where Camp” day (an open, participatory format spatial technology and application day-long event) sponsored and led by AGCommons.
HarvestChoice, AGCommons, CH2M Hill, ILRI, Bioversity, ESRI, and Google Kenya sponsored the 2009 CGIAR-Consortium on Spatial Information (CSI) meeting.
